Breakout Spotlight: You Can’t Lead Well If Money Stress Is Quietly Draining Your Energy
By Linda Grizely
Many women carry money stress quietly.
They show up to meetings, lead teams, make decisions, build careers, support their families, and care for everyone else.
And underneath all of that, there is this private little loop running in the background:
Am I doing enough?
Am I behind?
Can I afford this?
Should I be making a different choice?
Why does this feel so hard?
That stress is not just about money.
It affects your energy.
Your confidence.
Your boundaries.
Your ability to advocate for yourself.
Your willingness to take up space.
And for women in leadership, that matters.
Because money stress does not stay neatly tucked away in a spreadsheet. It shows up everywhere, often without us even realizing it.
According to the National Endowment for Financial Education, 88% of U.S. adults reported feeling some form of financial stress as they began 2026.
This shows up in how we make decisions. How we value our time. How we respond to opportunities. How we negotiate. How we say yes. How we say no. How we show up at work.
Morgan Stanley at Work’s State of the Workplace 2026 Financial Benefits Study reported that 56% of employees say financial stress negatively affects their work and personal life.
For many women, money is not just a numbers issue.
It is a confidence issue.
A clarity issue.
A permission issue.
That is why I created the MeMoney® Method.
Because financial confidence improves leadership confidence.
The MeMoney® Method looks at money through a human lens.
Not with shame, guilt, or rigid rules.
And not with the idea that every woman should manage money the exact same way.
Because real life does not work that neatly.
Women are making financial decisions inside full, complex, constantly changing lives. They are leading teams, raising families, supporting aging parents, building businesses, managing careers, navigating transitions, and still trying to make wise choices for their own future.
And way too often, they are doing all of that while putting themselves last.
MeMoney® begins with understanding.
Understanding your patterns, your priorities, and your relationship with money.
Your financial decisions are shaped by much more than numbers alone.
You see, the problem is not always a lack of information. Often, we know what we should do. We just don’t know how to make it work for us in our real lives.
And when financial guidance does not connect to your real life, it becomes one more thing to feel behind on.
That is not empowerment.
Empowerment begins when you can look at your money without shame and start asking better questions.
Not just, “Can I afford this?”
But:
Does this align with what I value?
Is this helping me build the life I want?
Am I included in my own financial plan?
Is this worthy of my MeMoney®?
Those questions change things.
Because when a woman understands what is really driving her financial choices, money becomes less about “getting it right” and more about making aligned, informed, confident decisions.
And that confidence does not stay separate from leadership.
When women trust themselves with money, they are more likely to trust themselves in the room.
They ask for what they need. They negotiate with more clarity. They make decisions from ownership instead of fear. They stop shrinking around conversations that require confidence.
This session is not about becoming perfect with money.
It is about changing the way you think about money, so your financial decisions feel more like choices and less like struggles.
My hope is that every woman leaves my session, You Can’t Build a Life You Love on a Budget You Hate, at the 2026 Women’s Leadership Conference with a new way to look at her money, her value, and her next decision.
Because, You deserve to feel confident with money and good about how you spend it™.
