Breakout Spotlight: The Two Minutes That Matter Most

What if the most important presentation of your career only lasted two minutes?

Not 20. Not 60. Just two.

Most of us think of presentations as something that happens on a stage. But in reality, they happen every single day - in a conference room, on a Zoom call, across the table from your boss, during a difficult conversation, or in that moment when someone unexpectedly looks at you and says, "So...what do you think?"

Those are the moments that shape careers!

Funny enough, it took me years to realize that.

Looking back now, I can see clues throughout my career that should have tipped me off much sooner.

One of the biggest happened when I was 28 years old, interviewing for my first corporate position. At the time, I assumed I got the job because of my experience and the answers I gave during the interview. Years later, I realized that wasn't the whole story.

In fact, that lesson kept showing up again and again throughout my career, even though I didn't recognize the pattern until much later.

A few years after that first corporate role, I found myself in a completely different world: sales strategy and data. My team spent days, sometimes weeks, building slide decks. We triple-checked the numbers, polished recommendations, and rehearsed what we'd say for each slide.

Looking back, I realized we had been preparing for the wrong part of the presentation.

It wasn't until I left corporate and began coaching executives that I finally connected the dots. Years later, that realization became the foundation for a session I now call “The 2-Minute Test”.

And I think that realization matters now more than ever.

AI is changing the way we work, communicate, and prepare. It's an exciting time, and I'm fascinated by what's possible. But it's also forcing us to rethink what creates lasting impact.
